I spent 12 hours just trying to make Quartz work and it did! I even copied Owlly Lab's code just to make Quartz nicer to look at. It was all working well locally however the Github Actions workflow was annoying to use. Skill Issue, I was not able to figure it out. I was thinking of putting at least two submodules for the content directory but it keeps failing to find it, and I don’t know why. Hence, I moved back again to Antora… cue the previous day.

I was able to figure out how to change the UI and publish it with Github Actions. It was far simpler to implement than Quartz.

My only main issue with this next is the theme. I don’t know yet how to change it to dark theme. Light theme is meh, bad for my eyes. I could maybe take inspirate from Jamstack's color theme switcher.

Another pain point with AsciiDoc is that I don’t know how to link to another notes in my system and there are no vimwiki-like movements. Very annoying acts to always repeat:

  • Journaling

  • Adding new notes

  • No backlinks

  • Cannot move around backlinks

  • Node graph view of the notes

  • No tagging

Maybe next time then.
