Personal Wiki
I moved away from Obsidian.md in favor of vimwiki because my Obsidian notes got clunky and messy. I wanted something that can easily be maintained.
I found out about Quartz and made me stick to using Markdown for my plaintext notes. I checked Asciidoc and it has more features than Markdown and support for built-in syntax that Markdown does not have. It was interesting but it falls short on vimwiki-like tool and Antora does not have backlinks, file preview, and local graph.
vimwiki + quartz
Pros:
-
wikilinks
-
graph view
-
plugins
-
previews
-
backlinks
Cons:
-
it’s not asciidoc
asciidoctor + antora
Pros:
-
asciidoc itself
-
got lots of features that i haven’t tested yet
Cons:
-
no wikilinks
-
no vimwiki
-
no previews
-
no backlinks
-
no graph view
-
annoying to setup
I found an interesting Quartz setup on https://www.mara-li.fr/, I’ll be taking that as inspiration.
I tried using AsciiDoc and Antora at first but I did not like the idea of having to configure the navigation menus and bars, and other parts of the UI as well. Thus I gave up on using it. It was annoying and wasted my time.
